Finnish start-up venture is fascinating
When I left the UK, I had an ambitious plan. To make it happen, I ended up moving to Finland in August 2016. Many Finns are curious as to why I would move here, and the answer is actually pretty simple. In the UK, you just can’t get this kind of support for a start-up venture. It simply doesn’t exist. So, I was (and still am) an aspiring entrepreneur who had just moved to Finland, and I was on a mission to kick some butt. What was I to do? Well, I was lucky enough to come across the miracle that was Discovery Tuesday! It was an amazing opportunity for me to make progress towards my master plan. I was lucky enough to be accepted onto the programme, I met a lot of awesome people, and I even ended up pitching in the finals! Let’s fast-forward to today. Guess what? I’m still working on the same business idea! Though my progress has been slow, it certainly would have been a lot slower without Discovery Tuesday. By taking part in the programme I got to know so many great people, and I established a lot of important business connections, which I wouldn’t have made otherwise. That’s why I decided to give back, by helping to organize the event this year! Oh, and let’s not forget, there’s free food too!
